Training

At Barons Beverage Services, we know the perfect pour is more than just good beer – it’s good business. That’s why we’re dedicated to making sure that your staff understand what it takes to pour perfection. Our training program provides your staff with the competence to not only serve a great beer, but also to protect your venue’s bottom line.

Training can be provided onsite at your venue or at Barons’ purpose-built training facility. Our programs are designed to build your team’s capability in general safety, bar skills, waste minimisation and asset longevity.

Program 1: The Profitable Pint

This program is all about the factors that impact your ability to pour a perfect pint, every time (yes, really).

Now, we all want to make sure the customer receives the perfect pint each time they order, but managing that day-to-day can be difficult. The Barons Profitable Pint training program takes individuals through what’s best for business – equipping employees with the knowledge and skills to be able to identify factors contributing to the best outcome for both customer and venue. The Barons beer experts will step participants through best practice techniques to ensure they’re pouring the perfect (and most profitable) pint every time.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • Understanding your system and how pouring techniques differ from system to system.
  • The impact of glassware shape, condition and cleaning on pouring the perfect pint.
  • Temperature, gas and beer types
  • Understanding the financial impact of beer wastage
  • Helpful techniques for achieving the perfect profitable pint

Program 2: System Safety

Barons System Safety training is about all things safety for your dispense system. Gas safety, chemical safety, safe operating procedures, and how to make sure you’re being safe every day.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • Understanding CO2 and Nitrogen, and the roles they play in preservation and presentation of beer
  • Understanding AS5034, gas boards regulators and compliance
  • CO2 monitors and O2 monitors – what they are, how they work, what to look out for and their compliance requirements
  • Chemicals in the bar, what they do, the dangers of using them and the correct safe operating procedures
  • General safe operating procedures when working in a venue with a beer dispense system

Program 3: General System Operation and Maintenance

Our General System Operation and Maintenance training focuses on how to use your specific system, introduces components and how they contribute, and what individuals should and shouldn’t be doing while operating.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • How to maintain your beer system – what needs to be done, when it needs to be done and what should be left to the professionals
  • Beer line cleaning training – how to clean your lines, the type of chemicals that should be used, correct use of PPE, and what other components need to be cleaned
